Connie...I'm not normally a Jazz fan, but I read a review of your Let It Be Jazz CD in Goldmine, ordered and just received the last copy available from CD Universe. WOW!!! I played it for one of my Jazz buddies...and he was just blown away! Hope you come to the Northeast soon. I'll be sure to make the trip. I also plan to order some copies direct as well as some of your other work and, hopefully, a signed copy of this "album". Thank you...Dr. John

Connie, heard the Let it be jazz on our local (WRIU, from Univ. of Rhode Island, fabulous jazz programming). Called my sister to check it out, by the time they were done with the set (almost the whole album, btw), she was on amazon and had ordered three copies. I've spent weeks now whistling your versions of these favorites. Your voice, the arrangements, the musicians... it all works in a big way. Curious, tho, when your touring will take you out East??? cheers, Bruce Epke

Dear Connie, I heard your recording of "I Will" on KUVO, Denver's NPR jazz station, while driving home from work one morning. Your voice was so riveting I sat in the car in my driveway through two more selections (not, unfortunately, from your album!) so I could jot down your name when the dj finally came back on the air. I ordered "Let It Be Jazz" that night online, (along with all the other CDs of yours I could find) and it arrived about a week later, on my birthday. What a treat! I particularly like the myriad of styles you employ in each of the renditions on "Let It Be Jazz". Every song is fresh and different; your backup musicians are superb; your articulation is perfect; your voice is just gorgeous, so flexible and accurate. I have become a huge fan, and am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the other(backordered)CDs soon. Much luck to you in your career, and may you sing and record for many, many years!

Connie - I've just heard your Beatles record and I'm absolutely knocked out by it. (I brought this disc home on Tuesday from Chicago - I borrowed it from my friend at Down Beat - and I've already listened to it four times all the way through,) I don't know exactly what I expected, but these are smart arrangements beautifully sung. Somehow you've managed to get the Lennon-McCartney sense of beauty, humor and fun without being overly "jazzy" or pretentious and you rich, lovely voice tells us that you love the music and are not doing the songs because some record person thought it would be the right idea. I was formerly the jazz director at Koch and for 9 years received demos in the mail by many artists, many of whom were singers. It is an absolute delight to hear a disc like yours at this point because it tells me what I've always suspected to be true - that there is good music outside of the "usual suspect" cities and that there are still artists who can make familiar material sound fresh. All the best to you, Connie Donald Elfman

I was doing a search for the remix of Peggy Lee's song, "Fever" by the Italian group Gabin and somehow the tribute to Peggy Lee CD that you did came up. I had the opportunity to listen to samples of a couple of cuts on your CD. Wow! I think you have one of the greatest jazz voices ever. Needless to say I immediately ordered your "Fever" CD and absolutely love it.I was wondering if you will be singing in the Los Angeles area any time in the near future? I would also like to know if you have an email list that indicates where you will be singing. Why aren't you a household name? You should be.Thanks for your time and I hope to hear you sing in person some time.

I just purchased your cd "Some Cats Know." I heard clips of the album at It was in the "your recommended music" file based on my previous purchases. I am a major fan of female jazz vocalists. I try to avoid cd's with often heard standards. However, I found your treatment of the music very refreshing and enjoyable. What a lovely voice! I'm looking forward to ordering your other albums.

Connie, Excellent website. Caught you at the Galleria in early March, and loved your show. I especially liked "Blackbird" done to "All Blues" - a very creative mix of two great songs. Also, I share your adulation of Peggy Lee, and have some two dozen of her CD's (but no vinyl). Elsewhere on your website, there is a reference to a Peggy Lee tune you do, "I Want To Be Loved," apparently from the 1930s. Where did you find this recording? I've never seen anything that pre-dates the Benny Goodman Orchestra days. Thanks Connie.

WOW! I LOVE THIS! That's all I think when I hear your CD "Some Cats Know." I appreciate your understated style and sure sense of swing. I get tired of singers that over do it on every song. I've recently got my Cd collection up to date on the current jazz vocalists. I've added Jane Monheit, Carla Cooke, Carla White, Rene Marie, Rebecca Kilgore & Nnenna Freelon to my Diana Krall, Andy Bey, Kevin Mahogany & Freddie Cole. I now need a bigger CD player so I can set it on "random" and slip into "jazz vocalist ecstasy!" I sense that your background in advertising comes in handy. Good for you. I am a "wannabe" jazz vocalist working in Ocean City, Maryland. I think I'd have to take a night off though, if you were to come to the area! There is a jazz festival in Rehoboth, DE every October. While living in Minneapolis a few years ago, I had the good fortune of seeing Connie's Tribute to Peggy Lee show at the Illusion Theater. That was my first experience, but it certainly was not my last. I immediately bought her two CDs, went home, and indulged myself in what I now consider to be some of the very best jazz singing today. I was thrilled when her third CD came out a short time later. Connie has the jazz gene and is a singer who can do it all. She is a sensitive interpreter of lyrics who effectively communicates the message of every song. She improvises an established melody with discretion and with a complete understanding of harmony. She NEVER overdoes it. She sings ballads with warmth and emotion, and she swings like mad. Like all of Connie's fans, I look forward to many more opportunities to hear her perform live and to many more recordings.

Discovered your CD "I Have Dreamed" in a used music store. Bought it because of the song titles, stuck it in the car player, an immediatly fell in love with you. My wife and I listen to it regularly. I am looking forward to hearing new music from you on a regular basis. In a world where diminishing music quality is the norm, it is wonderful to hear new, exciting talent such as yours emerge. Thank you for being you. We have bookmarked your webpage and will check the calender section regularly, hoping to see you scheduled on the East Coast. Blues Alley in D.C. would be a marvelous addition to your regular gigs (hint! Hint!) Alan & Julie Roark

thought i'd share an antedote about one of the songs on your "tribute to peggy lee cd,with your fans. On Saturday,June 17,2000,i met a long-time friend, visiting here from the Dallas-ft. worth area. After enjoying a lovely lunch at "'JOE'S GARAGE". WE WALKED OVER TO THE wALKER ART CTR SCULPTURE GARDENS AND cHERRY SPOON BRIDGE SCULPTURE. WHILE sitting on one of the benches, enjoying "some cats know" on a boom box,a wedding party arrived,in a white limo for photos at the cherry spoon bridge.i immediately switched the cd to the "tribute to Peggy Lee" and queued uo track #4 "he's a tramp." The bride was entering the path on my side of the garden path. I threatened to blast out "he's a tramp" just as she passed us. but my friend,Penny said "don't you dare embarrass me that way!" They proceeded to the spoon bridge to take pictures of the wedding party and had to return to the waiting limo. I said "here comes my last chance for their "wedding anniversary song!" But again I was forced to hold back on my impulses!

9/8/00 Connie, I like your Site--well organized, informative, interesting. Your fascination with Peggy Lee makes one want to check out your sounds and interpretations. I've ordered one of your CD's already--let's see (hear) if a Scandinavian/American Chanteuse can deliver the goods... With Special Guests of the caliber shown on "Some Cats Know" it looks like a shoo-in... The best to you, Ted Unseth

I first heard Connie Evingson on the local jazz station here in Seattle. It was the standard, "More Than You Know". I was really impressed and taken by the sultry and sexy performance and rushed to find the CD. Unfortunately, neither Tower Records or Borders Books had it. But I finally tracked down a copy of "Some Cats Know" at a jazz only record store.(One can purchase it online also) I really enjoyed the album and it quickly became one of my favorites. I was also fortunate enough to catch her perform live at the Crepe De Paris in Seattle and she is really sensational. If you like great music, give Connie Evingson a try.

I left Minneapolis in 1992 to come to this "milk toast and flannel shirt" town. Imagine my THRILL when I was able to see Moore By Four perform here later that year. It was as though civilization was not so far away after all!
I stayed for one of your lunchtime gigs in the Crystal Court while visiting in Minneapolis last year, and you BOWLED me over. I'm so glad that you've made a solo career as well. While I thoroughly enjoyed the Moore ensemble, I realize now that it was your rich, mellow, and absolutely RESONANT tone which really moved me. I've only one of your CDs - "Some Cats Know" - and it's borrowed, to boot. But if my mother thinks she's getting it back, she can just THINK AGAIN. Besides, if I played the title track fewer than a hundred times a day at my office, my coworkers would think I'd left for the day...
Thanks for sharing your gift with us. Any chance you'll have a gig up here in Flannelville? SOMEONE'S gotta show these folks that the cowboy station doesn't play ALL the worthwhile music in the world! There's always the Reif Center again, and I'd buy all the tickets myself if I had to...
